Indiana Program Description

The Food Stamp Program is a 100 percent Federally funded program, which is administered through each State. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services develop Federal regulations that govern implementation of the program. In Indiana, the Family and Social Services Administration is responsible for ensuring the Federal regulations are initially implemented and consistently applied in each county.

Indiana's Food Stamp Program is designed to raise the nutritional level of low income households by supplementing their available food purchasing dollars with food stamp coupons.

In accordance with Federal law and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) policy, the Food Stamp Program is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, political beliefs, or disability.
